Behind the Song
Inspired by those words in Psalm 121, “I lift up my eyes to the hills – where is my help gonna come from…?” this is a song that was born out of that feeling of helplessness and hopelessness most of us experience at times along the way…some of us more than others. Times when we feel like we really have no clue how to live, have no idea how to do anything about all that’s messed up and broken in the world and in our personal lives, and sometimes we find it hard to believe that God is real and that God cares. It seemed like how the people of Israel must have felt when they wrote this Psalm – the journey was long and rough and the mountains way too high. But the answer they got was to raise their eyes, look up, look around, because when we really look we can actually see God’s grace and love all around us in big and small, almost hidden ways… and that’s why Jesus came into this world and dwelt among us…so we could see the story isn’t over yet.
